One of the unique aspects of IWCF membership is the opportunity to grant $500 of your contribution to up to two organizations of your choice. As soon as you have made your annual gift you may make individual designations.
Individual Grant Guidelines As a 501(c)(3) status organization IWCF is allowed to disburse funds to three types of organizations (the status of each organization will be verified before a check is written):
Any 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Governmental entities such as schools, public libraries and park departments as long as the grants further a public purpose.
Houses of worship - such as churches, synagogues and mosques.
Grants cannot be designated to individuals.
There are no geographical restrictions for individual grant designations.
Members may opt to assign some or all of their individual funds into the IWCF pooled fund, the IWCF Administrative fund, or the Susan Smith Idaho Women's Charitable Foundation Endowment fund.
In keeping with our core value of thoughtful and informed giving, members affiliated with local nonprofits are requested to refrain from directly soliciting individual designations from their IWCF colleagues.
Schedule and Process Individual grants may be designated at any point throughout the year. Members are encouraged to assign their designation and the date the check is to be sent when they join or renew. Checks are processed once monthly between February 15th and November 15th, with March the ideal timeframe. Members who have not designated will be reminded via their renewal letter sent by the middle of November. Please note: individual designations not assigned within 18 months of donation will be transferred to the next pooled grant cycle. Checks can be cut in December by special request.
After a member designates the recipient organization, check(s) are written with a letter naming the individual responsible for gift. The member will receive a copy of the letter to the donee.
